Sinar Mas held the Sinar Mas Digital Day (SMDD) 2024 on September 27-28 at Nusantara Hall, ICE BSD City, with more than 3,000 participants, including government officials, Sinar Mas employees, startups, big tech companies, business partners, and other stakeholders. The event, themed Stronger Together Towards Golden Indonesia 2045, aligns with Indonesia’s vision for technological advancement, digital inclusivity, and the growth of the digital economy. It was officially opened by Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi, Franky O. Widjaja (Sinar Mas Board Member), and Jesslyne Widjaja (Executive Director of Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food).
A major highlight of the event was the announcement of a strategic collaboration between Sinar Mas and China Mobile to establish the SMG-CMCC Joint AI Lab (ASIX). This collaboration aims to advance AI research and development in Indonesia. Minister Budi Arie Setiadi praised the initiative, encouraging the Sinar Mas AI Lab to lead the country’s AI ecosystem and help drive national technological independence. He also stressed the importance of learning from global best practices to build a competitive and sustainable AI industry in Indonesia.
SMDD 2024 provided a platform for showcasing innovations across Sinar Mas’ diverse business pillars, including technologies such as quantum computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Over 40 prominent speakers participated, leading 10 panel discussions and 12 breakout room sessions that explored the latest digital trends. This created opportunities for employees and partners to collaborate, share insights, and accelerate innovation in various sectors.
The event also featured interactive workshops, product demonstrations, and business matching sessions, allowing participants to explore practical applications of emerging technologies.
